Presenting the materials on behalf of the Senator, Mr Okechukwu Kalu, aide to the Senator, said the items would serve as palliatives for the people affected by the flood.

He said the donation might not meet their food and financial needs, but noted that it was just a little way to assist them, to cushion the effects of the havoc caused by the flood

According to him, the gesture was a testimony to Senator Ama Nnachi’s kind nature and readiness to always assist and support people of his Senatorial zone and Ebonyi State at large.

“Distinguished Sen. Ama Nnachi is a man with a large heart, always passionate of giving succour to the needy and positive representation to our people. This is his own little way to complement the efforts of both NEMA and State Emergency Management Agency, which has the statutory mandate of ensuring that persons affected by the flood are properly taken care of”.

While sympathizing with the people, he explained that the Senator was aware of the pains, sufferings and hardship the victims were passing through as the flood heavily affected their farms, buildings and personal belongings.

He called on the people to take heart and accept their fate, as it was not man’s making, but a natural disaster.

He promised that more support would come as the Distinguished Senator would personally visit them very soon.

He added that the Senator apart from the palliatives, has made contact to National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to ensure that the Agency do the needful to assist and support the people.

Responding on behalf of all the beneficiaries, Omezua Chukwu Idam, Chief Ekuma Chukwu and Mrs Eleje Uche, expressed gratitude to the Senator for extending his hand of generosity to them at this trying period and prayed God to continue to bless him and his family.

It would be recalled that Ezeke-Amaechara and Ohaechara communities in Amasiri were in the early hours of Monday, 22nd June,2020 submerged by flood due to a torrential downpour.
