Today, Sunday 24/1/2021 was not a good day for some government functionaries in Ebonyi as the State Police Commissioner Aliyu Garba arrested Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Clement Odah, member representing Ohaukwu North State constituency, in the state House of Assembly, Chinedu Awọ over Community crises which led to destruction of lives and properties among the Effium and their Ezza brothers.
The two Coordinators of Effium, Mr Sunday Agbo and that of Effium South DC, Mrs Eucharia Ogwale were among other thirty (30) stakeholders who were also arrested.
Also arrested were some 30 other major stakeholders from the community, including the former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and Special Assistant on Market Development, Emmanuel Uzor, as well as his counterpart in Charge of Parks Development, Emmanuel Igwe.
Others are; former lawmaker representing Ohaukwu North state Constituency and Governor David Umahi’s Special Assistant on Youth Development, Frank Onwe.
Recall that the State Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe had visited the scenes of clash Saturday, and convened a joint meeting of the stakeholders of the two Communities; Effium and Ezza for Sunday morning, where he ordered their arrest.
In a statement issued by Dr Monday Uzor, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor , the stakeholders were to be seated at the Old Exco Chambers, Old Government House, Abakalik by 9am.
