Ebonyi/Cross River Youths Apologise For Resorting To War

Youths of Ebonyi state and those of Cross River state have apologized to government of both states and above all the federal government of Nigeria for the war they waged against themselves that claimed so many lives and properties.

The President general of Cross River/Ebonyi Youth Ambassadors Barrister Pascal Nnaji made this known in a communiqué he read to newsmen in Abakaliki the Ebonyi state capital.

Pascal said communities from both states have realized their inadequacies and agreed to lay down their arms and promised to be absolutely peaceful, law abiding and co-exist harmoniously and they will no longer over step their bounds by intruding into the responsibilities of the National Boundary Commission which has the primary responsibility to delineate and demarcate boundary in Nigeria rather National Boundary Commission should intervene in those boundary disputed areas and carry out their primary assignments to enable them join other peace loving Nigerians reap the dividends of democracy.

They also appealed to government at all levels, State Management Agency (SEM), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Non governmental organization (NGO) to come to their aid and also assist them in training affected Youths in mechanized agriculture and other skills so as to enshrine positivity in them.
Pascal Nnaji said that any person or group of persons that violates the terms of agreement in the communiqué shall be jointly prosecuted by the Youths and the both state government.

Consequent upon the meeting the youths resolved to wit:
1. That we apologize to the Almighty God, the government and cross river state and above all the government of federal republic and promise that this despicable action can never repeat itself again
2. That we have realized our inadequacies and agreed to Kay down our arms and promise to be absolutely peaceful, law abiding and co-exist harmoniously
3. That there shall be no more shoot outs in any part of the communities within and around the border communities of both cross river and Ebonyi state
4. That all the differences ravaging some of the boundary areas of the two sister states wall from henceforth be resolved through conflict resolution methodologies
5. That we shall no long over step our bound by intruding into the responsibilities of the National Boundary Commission (NBC) which has the primary responsibility to delineate and demarcate boundary in the country
6. That all communities in the boundary areas of both state shall live in their status ante until otherwise decide by National Boundary Commission

7. That roads which transverses the both states should be allowed free flow of traffic
8. That all markets, schools, churches and other social outfits that war crises ridden areas should be allowed to thrive
9. That we the youths of both states have by this communiqué agreed never to fight war again but to always at all times settle our differences amicable
10. That the community chiefs, village heads, youth leaders and stakeholders of the warring areas are charged to be security conscious
11. That the aforesaid stakeholders are charged to channel their energies on human capital and economic development and well that lives and properties of people within their domains are under their care
12. That we shall jointly visit all the affected local government, communities and villages within and he crises areas of both states to educate them on the need to always follow due process of the law in the event of misunderstanding
13. That we appeal to the government at all levels to assist us in training our youths in mechanized agriculture and other skills so as to enshrine positivity in them
14. That we appeal to government of both states in conjunction with the federal government invite state management (SEMA) and National Emergency y agency (NEMA) to come to our aid
15. That the National Boundary Commission NBC should intervene in those boundary disputed areas and carry out their primary assignment to enable us join other peace loving Nigerians reap the dividends of democracy
16. That appeal to the state government of Ebonyi state and cross river bring the attention of activities of Internally displaced people IDPS into the areas affected by the crises
17. That we also appeal to the international communities donor agencies NGOs to come our aid
18. Lastly, we appeal to religious institutions, our elders and well meaning Nigerians to pray for the eternal repose of the souls of all our loved ones died in the course of the crises
19. That any person or group of persons who violates the terms of this communiqué shall be jointly prosecuted by the Youths and the both state governments
