Ebonyi former Governor Commissions Self Built World Class E – Library, Donates Same To State University

The first Executive Governor of Ebonyi State and Senator Representing Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone, Senator Dr Sam Ominyi Egwu has once more exhibited his deep love for Education by building and equipping a world class e-library and donating same to the Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.

The event which took place today 3rd March, 2021 saw the former Governor, commissioning the world best E-library build by him and donated to Ebonyi state University (EBSU) to enhance students academic performance.

Senator Egwu while addressing the entire staff of he State University, who came out en-masse to welcome him stressed on the need for more of such gestures, as according to him, such will enhance research, and facilitate the adoption of current journals, handbooks as well as textbook in their academic curriculum.

He recalled that his flair for educational strides started while he was the staye commissioner for Education where he removed levies to ensure that indigenes of the state had unfettered access to free and quality education in the state.

Senator Egwu hinted that upon becoming the governor, he introduced free and compulsory Education and further established the Ebonyi state University, recalling that it was not out of place for one to say he was the father of Education in Ebonyi state.

He however urged the management of EBSU to pay staff their full wages as that would enhance better performance.

In appreciation, the Vice-chancellor of Ebonyi state University, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu thanked senator Dr Sam Egwu for the opportunity he had provided for the students to learn and carry out research.

 

He added that the commissioned structures and building were sole innovation of the former governor and possessed the credit on its conception and realization.

He also praised the Senator and urged him to continue to put the University in his subsequent developmental consideration, as according to him he was part and parcel of the University having passed as a lecturer before joining politics.

The centre for satellite technology and development were fully equipped with over 100 thousand modern computers.
