The Government of Ebonyi State has organized a written examination to select 18 Principals that will be posted to some Public Secondary Schools in Ebonyi State.

NATIONSTRENDS reports that due to shortage of Principals in the Secondary Education System in the state, the state moved to recruit capable hands within the rank and file to ensure quality and productive education.

Speaking before the commencement of the examination which took place at the Law Auditorium, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education, who doubles as the Acting Chairman of the Secondary Education Board, Dr. Mrs Obianuju Aloh noted that only qualified vice- Principals would make the list.

Dr. Aloh noted that the exercise is part of quality assurance in the educational sector and urged those who would emerge as Principals at the end of the exercise to be innovative, so as to help in restoring the glory of the teaching profession in the State.

She assured that screening exercise for those who would pass the examination would be transparent.

In a speech, one of the supervisors, Associate Prof. Egbe noted that the competitive examination was meant to select the best and vibrant principals who would change the narratives of Secondary education in Ebonyi State by going to the drawing board to get things right.

She urged the vice- principals that participated in the exercise to contribute to sustaining quality education in the state.

A statement by Aloy Nkwuda, the Public Relations Officer in the department said the Hon Commissioner for Education Dr Zyll Nwangele was represented in the exercise by the former Ag. permanent Secretary, Mrs. Abia Onyike as well as the Director of Secondary Education, Mrs. Grace Ngwu.
