Ebonyi youths development and sport ministry pray for Umahi’s quick recovery from COVID 19

The Ebonyi ministry of Youth Development and Sports has organised a prayer session, imploring God to heal Governor David Umahi who was recently diagnosed of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

The state government had recently directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to organise a daily-one hour prayer session for the governor’s recovery as this will last for 10 days.

Hon. Charlse Akpuenika, Commissioner in charge of the ministry, said during the prayer session at the Pa Ngele Oruta stadium Abakaliki, that they were seeking God’s healing for Umahi to continue his goods works for the people.

“We also ask God to heal other people infected with the disease in the state and country and the give mankind the enablement to permanently eradicate the disease.

“We also ask God for protection on the first family of the state and to also protect all citizens against the pandemic,” he said.

Akpuenika said that the governor had been in the forefront in the fight against the pandemic and did everything humanly possible to ensure that the disease didn’t get into the state.

“Unfortunately, returnees especially from high risk areas found their way into the state and the disease started to escalate.

“Despite the surge, the governor did all he could, formulating policies and actions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and this ensured that the disease is being effectively curtailed and managed in the state,” he said.

The commissioner noted that Umahi needs the best of health now to ensure that he continues implementing his people oriented policies which ensured that Ebonyi ranks among the most developing states in the country.

“This is a governor who has changed the face of the state with people across the country seeing Ebonyi as a model while non-indigenes of the state are wishing they are from here.

“We his followers owe him the duty of offering unflinching support to ensure that the democratic dividends he is offering the people, are sustained,” he said.

He however regretted that despite all efforts made by the governor to make the people adhere to all COVID 19 protocols, most people do not adhere to such.

“Evidences are currently abound that the disease is real and no respecter of persons as we all should realise that it is better to adhere to such protocols and stay alive.

“They must continue washing their hands with soap and running water, steady use of sanitizers, observe social distancing, wearing of face masks, avoiding crowded places, reporting to relevant heath authorities when they feel sick among others,” he said. ENDS
