EBSG imposes Curfew On Effium Community Over Bloody Clash



The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr David Nweze Umahi has imposed a curfew in Effium community from 4pm to 8am.

The curfew which will be on daily basis is with effect from Sunday, 24th January, 2021, until normalcy returns to crises area.

According to a statement signed by Orji Uchenna Orji, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, the State governor deeply frowns at what it calls unabated violence and wanton destruction of lives and property in Effium community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area.

The Statement reads;

“In his determination to restore peace and order, the Governor has imposed a curfew in Effium community from 4pm to 8am on daily basis with effect from Sunday, 24th January, 2021, untill normalcy returns to the affected community.

“The Governor further directs the Security Agencies to ensure the strict enforcement of the curfew and to deal decisively with any person or group of persons involved in killings and or destruction of property of the people no matter whose ox is gored”

However, more suspects have been arrested in connection with the destructions of lives and property at Effium Community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area.

Sources said they were arrested by security team led by the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State Dr Kelechi Igwe and Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Garba at Ogbagere Village.

The source confirmed that luck ran out on them and aged men suspected to be Native Doctors where they were allegedly planning for further attacks.

They were rounded up by team of security men comprising, soldiers, Police, and Directorate of state Security Service.

Items recovered from them include, guns, live ammunitions , Matchets, and substances suspected to be charm.

Other suspects were arrested at Over bridge in Effium Town, NationsTrends gathered.
