“Mama Nwuzhi” Goes Home Amidst Glowing Tributes………….

The Remains of Prophetess Janet Philip Igboke, the mother of Rev. Paul J. Onwe, treasurer – Ebonyi Christian Association of Nigeria has been laid to rest in her husband’s home, Oriaja, Umuogudu Akpu Community of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The burial ceremony which was graced by people from all walks of life featured tributes from immediate and extended family members, well wishers and religious leaders.

The Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Engr David Nweze Umahi, represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Religious and Welfare Matters, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali said the death of a loved one at any age, comes with nostalgia for consideration of vacuum and fond memories and urged the bereaved to bear the loss with fortitude.

The State Commissioner for Intergovernmental affairs, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze described the death of Prophetess Janet Philip Igboke as a glorious transition as she lived a fulfilled life.


In a sermon, Bishop Emmanuel Otu, of Christ Ascension Church Nigeria who spoke on the topic, tagged “After death, what next” stressed that death is a divine appointment and advised the people to live a meaningful life while on earth.

In a tribute titled, “Funeral Oration of a Woman of God of extra ordinary faith, the son of the deceased, Rev. Paul Onwe said his mother was disciplined and strong willed, just as she was humble when it comes to matter of faith.

” You were a model giver, wonderful giver, model of self contentment. You often spoke to us to always stay close to God” he said.

In a biography, presented by one of her daughters, Deaconess Ann Amaka Orogwu, said her late mother was an epitome of motherhood as her life was full of honour.

In an oration, presented by Rev. Chisom Ogbonna on behalf Christ Ascension Nigeria, described death as threat to humanity saying the passing unto glory of the centenarian was shocking.

On behalf of the parents of the deceased, the Ndioyama kindred, through their spokesperson, Chief Gregory Mbaba expressed their gratitude to God for the outstanding character and religious exploits of their daughter from early age till death, adding that she had made them proud, stressing that she would actually gain God’s eternity.

The burial ceremony was attended by cream of Bishops drawn from within and outside Ebonyi State.

Mama Nwuzhi” passed on at the age of 102 years, and survived by many Children, grandchildren, and great grand Children.
